Sea Vester (that little guy you saw on the home page) is the United States Power Squadrons Youth Mascot. United States Power Squadrons (USPS), also known as "America's Boating Club" is a national volunteer organization that is dedicated to teaching safe boating through education. As we grow this site, there will be various links that will assist you in helping your child understand basic boating safety.
Under "Games" you will find Water Smart from the Start which will have various micro segments from an eight hour course of interactive courseware. The course expands on each of those micro segments into a complete educational experience for KIDS OF ALL AGES. The complete CD with all eight hours of courseware will be available from USPS Headquarters in the next few weeks. There will also be Student and Instructor manuals available should someone want to use this in a classroom or after-school program.
The course is recognized by the National Association of Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) as a benefit to boating safety - 2006.
You may call USPS at 1-888-367-8777 and ask for details on ordering the CD and or manuals which include the CD or you may send an e-mail to usps.org.
Keep on the look out for the Knot Tying segment on this site. Nautical knots are fun to tie and are essential not only for boaters but hunters and fishermen as well.
